What is the Amazing Shake?

In its second year, The Amazing Shake at GPA continued to be a tremendous success, helping students build confidence, poise, and essential communication skills. Sixty middle school students tackled The Gauntlet round, navigating rapid-fire real-life challenges designed to test their ability to think on their feet. After an impressive showing, 30 students advanced to The Shake Down, where they responded to professional interview questions in pairs. Seventeen students then moved on to Work the Room, engaging with as many professionals as possible in a short time frame, showcasing conversation skills, strong handshakes, and eye contact. The top 10 advanced to Debate, where they sharpened their ability to articulate ideas, listen actively, and confidently present arguments. These 10 finalists will compete at the Michigan Regional Amazing Shake in Grandville, Michigan, on February 28.

In Round 5: The Corporate Presentation, the five remaining finalists will step into the role of culinary innovators, pitching new smoothie concepts to the leadership team at Beyond Juicery + Eatery, including co-founder Pam Vivio. They will craft a unique smoothie name, select ingredients for taste and nutrition, and develop a marketing and pricing strategy. The two winning smoothies will be featured at Beyond Juicery + Eatery’s Grosse Pointe locations for a month, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting GPA—turning their creativity into real-world impact!

In Round 6, two finalists will undergo a rigorous interview with a local Google Executive on the morning of Thursday, March 6. They will receive a detailed job description and be asked a series of job-specific questions by the executive. Before the interview, they will attend a business breakfast with an HR professional.
