Shared Humanity

Our commitment to Shared Humanity

Pascal Losambe, Phd, Advisor and Mentor to The Grosse Pointe Academy in creating an environment of shared humanity.

As a school community made up of individuals with varied experiences and perspectives, The Grosse Pointe Academy is committed to fostering an environment that respects, affirms, and protects the inherent dignity and worth of every member. Our shared humanity calls us to live by the golden rule — treating others as we would want to be treated. It invites us to build authentic relationships, to listen with openness and humility, and to seek understanding so we can support one another meaningfully.

As an institution that encourages thoughtful dialogue and engagement with multiple viewpoints, it is essential that we sustain a healthy school culture grounded in respect and openness. Being a responsible citizen requires cooperation, effective communication, and a genuine effort to understand others’ experiences, values, and beliefs. Speech or behavior that demeans, excludes, or diminishes others is inconsistent with the Academy’s Cornerstones and our commitment to cultivating empathy, respect, critical thinking, and a strong sense of community.
