McMillian Lecture 2022: Using the 7 Habits at Home

How can educators and families partner to nurture and develop the whole child?

On April 13, 2022, The Grosse Pointe Academy will host our 27th McMillan Lecture Series Speaker. Thayer and Gioconda McMillan endowed the William Charles McMillan Lecture Series in 1994 in honor of their late son, William. An Academy student from 1973 to 1984, William believed that anyone could make a significant and lasting impact on the world no matter what one’s age, size or circumstance. These lectures on elementary education are dedicated to the proposition that every child can reach beyond his or her own limitations, that each child makes a lasting impact on the community and that each child makes the world a better place. It is the goal of these lectures to take your mind where it has never been.

This year, our speaker will be Lynn Fairbrother Kosinski from FranklinCovey. Lynn has been a Leader in Me Implementation Coach, is a 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) thought leaderfor FranklinCovey’s Education Division and is co-author of the book The 4 Disciplines of Execution for Educators. While leadership is an important attribute in school, we know that leadership goes beyond the classroom. Lynn will provide an overview of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, aligning with the 7 Habits our students are learning in order to develop the ability to lead themselves and others.
