the Grosse Pointe Academy
One of the Academy's educational goals is to prepare students through Christian principles and sound moral teachings to become effective leaders, responsible citizens, and caring stewards. The focus is on helping each student develop a reverence for all people and incorporate strong moral and ethical values in his or her life.
This year’s Stand Up and Speak Out (SUSO) program builds on the six pillars of character - respect, responsibility, caring, fairness, trustworthiness and citizenship - that were the foundation of our program last year. Students are engaged in a variety of discussions and activities to develop their ability to Stand Up and Speak Out for themselves, their peers and their community. These skills, activities and discussions include:
• Active listening skills
• Speaking skills
• Assertiveness skills
• Conflict resolution skills
• Friendships, relationships and normal conflict
• Normal conflict versus harassment or bullying
• How what I do matters in the world
