GPA vs. Roeper
April 15, 2008
The Lady Bulldogs started their season with a tough loss to Roeper. The girls played a timid first half but quickly turned the game around and played a solid second half of soccer. Notable performaces were given by Taylor Chuhran on defense and Somers Brush on offense.

What a turn-around from our first game! The girls came out ready to play. After falling 0-2 early in the first half, the Lady Bulldogs never gave up and evened the score early in the second half. The game ended in a 3-3 tie. Goals were scored by Kate Wacker, Taylor Blake, and Abigail Boll.

After falling 0-1 in the first half by a penalty shot, the girls had a fight ahead of them. The offense came into its own early in the second half and a goal by Elizabeth Penman evened the score. It was a very physical game. The foot skills of Somers Brush and the outstanding defense by Sam Sternad kept the team within reach of their first win of the season. Unfortunately, the last ten minutes of the game belonged to DCDS. Two quick goals by DCDS and the winding down game clock put victory out of reach for the Lady Bulldogs. Confidence was restored at the end of the game when one of the players from DCDS came over to congratulate one of our captains on her speed and soccer skills.
GPA vs. Hillel
April 30, 2008
Somers Brush and Abigail Boll were sorely missed in our match against Hillel. Injury and illness sidelined Anne Flick and Caley Roe for about half of the game. The Bulldogs did their best, but the speed of some key players on Hillel's squad was too much for them. A nice shot by one of the Hillel players left our team with less than five minutes to score. Kendall Dixon displayed cool composure with her ball handling, but we weren't able to maintain possession. The game ended as a 0-1 loss for the Bulldogs.
GPA vs. DCDS
May 1, 2008
The Lady Bulldogs fought hard to stay in the game, even after falling behind in the score. A couple of goals by Somers Brush and one by Kate Wacker kept the game close. The final score of 3-4 was a great improvement from our previous DCDS match. The game was well played and the Bulldogs will take their confidence from that game into the challenges ahead with the upcoming game against Liggett and our rematch against Roeper.

Going into the game, the girls set three goals: 1) Have fun; 2) Be aggressive; 3) End Liggett's season shutout by scoring at least one goal. All three of these team goals were achieved. The ULS team has a great deal of talent, but the GPA team wasn't going to go down without a fight. The aggressive offensive play and never say die attitude allowed Kara French to put a massive amount of pressure on the ULS defense. Kara, taking a great shot from just outside the 18 box, caught one of the defenders by surprise, and a handball was called. Somers Brush took the direct kick and scored the goal in the upper 90, thus ending ULS's shutout streak. Later in the first half, another defensive breakdown by ULS players was capitalized upon with a great goal scored by Giovanna Posselius and the Lady Bulldogs were still in the fight, down by only two goals. The second half didn't bode well for the Bulldogs. In spite of several huge defensive saves by Anne Flick andthe unbelievable goal keeping efforts by Caley Roe, the ULS offense proved too much for the Lady Bulldogs. Great effort ladies!

May 8, 2008
Excellent goal keeping by Caley Roe in the first half and a shutout by Kate Wacker in the second half made for a great team effort, heightened by excellent ball-handling skills, but we were unable to find the net with several scoring opportunities. The Bulldogs fell to the booters of Roeper 0-2.

Ah, another shot at the best team in the league. It should be noted that the ULS coach mentioned that the Bulldogs were their toughest match so far this season. A great team effort and a change-up in defensive strategy allowed the Bulldogs to keep pace with the girls of ULS, with great play on the touchline by Kara French, Kate Wacker, and Anne Flick. We put another goal in the ULS net, but weren't able to overcome their strong offense. What a fantastic game to watch.
GPA vs. Greenhills
May 20, 2008
The Lady Bulldogs suffered another loss, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. The girls from Greenhills brought their "A" game, which allowed for highlight reel style saves on our defensive end by Sam Sternad, Kate Wacker, and Allison Mobley. Our offense maintained composure, but the ball didn't seem to be bouncing our way.

WE WON!!! What a great way to end the season. Somers Brush ended her Middle School career with a hat trick plus 1 (FOUR goals in one game)! During the first half, Sam Fitzpatrick kept the ball in the offensive half and in doing so gave her team a scoring opportunity that was capitalized upon by Somers Brush. Adding to the lead was Anne Flick with a phenomenal finish. With high pressure on the goalie and the defense, Anne capitalized on the loose ball and tucked it in for a goal late in the second half. Caley Roe demonstrated phenomenal goal keeping and Kate Wacker. Kara French and Lauren Mattes were starting to put some things together on offense, but the game ended a few minutes too soon. A few more minutes and they would have scored.
The team had a great season that unfortunately wasn't reflected in their win/loss record. They never gave up and kept their heads held high with great team efforts all season. The final game put a hash mark in the win column for the Lady Bulldogs and they couldn't have deserved it more.
