The continuum of learning, begun in the Early School, flourishes in Grades 1-3. Each child is exposed to strong academics in a traditional classroom setting, supported by an array of opportunities for self-expression through music, art, creative movement and physical education.
Beginning in the Lower School, children are taught the following disciplines: language arts (including writing, literature, splling, vocabulary and grammar), mathematics, science, environmental science, social studies, technology, French, music, art, creative movement, physical education, and Christian Life. Classroom work and learning is supplemented by time in the computer lab and the library/media center, where trained instructors emphasize the mastery of basic skills along with web-based research and the exploration of multimedia software.
In the classroom, teachers employ multi-texts and design programs in which each student can progress at his or her own level. In addition, learning resource specialists are available to provide reinforcement or enrichment to match individual needs.
