GPA vs. Roeper
October 12, 2007
Led by the excellent passing, spiking and serving of Anne Flick the JV opened their season with a 25-10, 25-23 win. Kate Krueger (7 for 7) and Kate Van Pelt (11 for 11) led the servers.
The varsity won easily 25-3, 25-7. Team captain Emmy Boccacio played an outstanding net and Grace Rentschler started the match serving 7 for 7.
GPA vs. Southfield Christian
October 15, 2007
The varsity and JV teams are 2 and 0 with solid wins on Monday at Southfield Christian. The varsity struggled early in the first game against a motivated Southfield team, but pulled together and won 25-14, then went on to win the second game 25-10. Grace Rentschler led all servers 12 for 12 with 3 aces. Susie Stefani and Rebecca Broderick led all passers with 5 each. Once again team captain Emmy Boccaccio played an outstanding game at the net with 7 sets and tipping or saving 8.
The JV punched holes in Southfield's defense with excellent serving. Elizabeth Penmen was 8 for 8, Abigail Boll 11 for 12, Kate Krueger 11 for 11 and Kate Van Pelt 8 for 9. The JV won 25-9, 25-20.
GPA vs. Roeper
October 23, 2007
The varsity and JV teams played a much improved Roeper team on their home court and were able to bring home victories. The JV won 25-21, 25-18. Elizabeth Penman and Kate Van Pelt both led the serving attack, 10 for 11 with Kate tossing in 3 aces. The JV improved their season record to 6 win and 1 loss. The varsity controlled their match from the start winning 25-8, 25-18. Leading servers were Grace Rentschler (11 for 11) and Lexie Fisher (12 for 12). Emmy Boccaccio and Amanda Heidt led setters with 9 each and Elizabeth DiMauro had an excellent overall game, leading the team in passes with 11 and spikes with 4, and was 11 for 12 from the serving line.
GPA vs. Intercity
October 25, 2007
The varsity team won their match 25-14 and 25-13, behind the serving of Grace Rentschler. Grace served 19 for 19 and 4 aces. Emmy Boccaccio and Amanda Heidt combined for 15 set and 16 net saves or tips.
The J.V. also won 25-21 and 25-16, raising their season record to 7 wins and 1 loss. The team put together 11 bump-set-spikes.
GPA vs. Greenhills
November 9, 2007
The varsity team played "out of their minds" against a good Greenhills team. We won all three games (25-7), (25-16), (25-9). In the process the team put together 40 bump-set-spikes, served 93% as a team and was 40 for 45 spiking. Somers Brush led all servers with 18.
The JV also won but had to go into the third game to get it done (25-9), (18-25), (25-11). Sam Sternad led all servers 18 for 18. Captain Anne Flick led the team in passes to the setter with 7 and spikes with 5.
GPA vs. Hillel
November 12, 2007
The Varsity won 25-9, 25-7. The JV also won 25-4 and 25-18. The JV combined for their best serving night of the season 54 for 59, a 91% success rate.
GPA vs. ULS
November 15, 2007
The lady bulldogs were on fire Thursday evening, winning at both the varsity and JV levels. The varsity did not miss a spike in the contest and served at a 90% rate, winning 25-4, 25-5. The game ended when Susie Stefani made a spectacular dig attempt, resulting in a trip to the emergency room and a possible season ending injury.
Taylor Blake put together her best performance of the season in front of her former classmates, serving 16 for 17, helping the team to a 25-4,
25-10 win.
GPA vs Greenhills
November 19, 2007
The varsity and JV teams each won two matches at Greenhills yesterday.
Allison Mobley stood out for the JV serving 15 for 15 and did an
excellent job passing to the setter, earning her the game ball for her
efforts.
The varsity controlled their two matches. Emmy Boccaccio led
all setters with 35, Somers Brush led all servers 18 for 19, Becca
Broderick led in spikes with 8, and Grace Rentschler led all passers
with 22 with only 3 errors.
GPA vs. Hillel
November 27, 2007
After the long Thanksgiving break, the Varsity team was "out of sync",
but managed to win 25-14, 25-11, 25-8 at Hillel. Despite hot and
bright red legs (an allergic reaction to the new detergent used to
clean her knee pads), Amanda Heidt led the team in apikes and passes to the setter.
The JV also won 25-6, 25-21 and 25-23. Chandler Warren led the team in spikes, passes to the setter, and sets. Allison Mobley had an
excellent night from the serving line, serving 10 for 10.
GPA Volleyball Tournament
December 1, 2007
The Lady Bulldogs controlled the dog pound on Saturday, winning the first place trophy at the Varsity and J.V. levels. Three Varsity setters, Emmy Boccaccio, Amanda Heidt, and Kate Wacker, combined for a perfect 79 for 79 setting record. The team put together 61 bump-set-spikes led by spikers Elizabeth DiMauro (9 for 9) and Lexie Fisher (9 for 10), and Lauren Schaller was perfect from the serving line 22 for 22.
The J.V. had to overcome a 10-20 deficit vs. Greenhills and scratched and clawed out another tough match with ASH to finish champions. In the process they put together 42 successful bump-set-spikes and served 130 for 149 (a 87% serving rate).

GPA vs. Academy of the Sacred Heart

The Varsity closed out their season last evening with a hard fought win (25-15, 25-10, 25-18) to end their regular season undefeated. Emmy Boccaccio played an outstanding net. Emmy, Somers Brush and Amanda Heidt combined for 54 sets. Amanda and Susie led the team in serving. Their record for the season was 19-0.
The J.V. got off to a slow start and could not recover, facing their first loss in the regular season 22-25 and 23-25. Their record for the season was 18-1.
