Third grader Grace Scarfone was declared Acting Head for a Day of The Grosse Pointe Academy, effective on April 5, 2007. Grace was granted this honor due to the fact that her parents were the winning bidders on this item at last year’s Action Auction. As Head for a Day, Grace was granted "all powers and responsibilities appropriate and necessary to her functioning in office," according to Phil Demartini, including the time to accompany Mr. D. on a tour of the Academy campus, the power to declare the day "Clash Day" for the third grade and to extend recess time, and the ability to treat her classmates to a special pizza lunch and other goodies, including an ice cream sundae bar.

By all accounts, Grace carried out her duties and accepted the rights and privileges afforded to her and her classmates for the day.
