Grosse Pointe Academy third graders stepped into the past this March to take a look at some famous figures as part of an ongoing research project. The students spent several weeks researching their chosen subjects. Dressing up in costume and delivering an oral part were the culminating activities of this popular social studies unit.

Walking the halls of the Academy the week before spring break were, in Mrs. Stepanek's class, Thomas Edison (Nicholas Bojarczyk), Harry Houdini (William Buhl), Vincent Van Gogh (Antonina Cinnamond), Mother Teresa (Carly Demkowicz), Abraham Lincoln (Chris Elliott), Alexander Graham Bell (Michael French), Laura Ingalls Wilder (Mackenzie Harrell), Duke Kahanamoku (Jyen-ai Jones), Marie Curie (Ellie Liedl), Wiliam Shakespeare (Thomas Lynskey), Eleanor Roosevelt (Megan McCarren), J.K. Rowling (Riley Parrish), Benjamin Franklin (Luke Roberts), Cleopatra (Shannen Roe), and Davy Crockett (Henry Wujek). In Mrs. Wolney's class were George Washington (Matthew Abar), Thomas Edison (Emma Andreasen), Henry Ford (Jeffrey Buhl), Pocahantas (Gabriela Cavataio), Sacagawea (Virginia Cinnamond), Edsel Ford (Howie Crane), Helen Keller (Bridget Donaldson), Eleanor Roosevelt (Therese Drettmann), Davy Crockett (Sam Durno), Walt Disney (Kate Fruehauf), Abraham Lincoln (Alec McWood), Thoedore Roosevelt (Markus Minanov), Marie Curie (Julia Przyborowski), Ronald Reagan (David Scupholm), Albert Einstein (J'Von Tolbert), and Amelia Earhart (Stephanie Vermet).
