As the 12th speaker in the William Charles McMillan III Lecture Series, Rosalind Wiseman, pictured with Phil and Wendy Demartini and Gioconda and Thayer McMillan, spoke on October 9 about “Queen Bees and Wannabes: What the Rules of ‘Girl World’ and ‘Boy World’ Mean to a Teen.”
Ms. Wiseman is the author of the New York Times bestseller Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of Adolescence, which was the basis for the 2004 hit movie, Mean Girls. Her latest book, Queen Bee Moms and Kingpin Dads, was released in March of 2006, and Ms. Wiseman has recently become a monthly columnist for Family Circle Magazine.
The lecture series is a gift from Thayer and Gioconda McMillan given in memory of William in the interest of emphasizing the importance of elementary education.
