OUR CHALLENGE

Our challenge is to raise $250,000 of tax free donations from parents, grandparents, past parents and friends of The Grosse Pointe Academy. These donations will fill the gap between the funds raised through tuition and the actual cost of an Academy education.

Nationally renowned independent schools like The Grosse Pointe Academy are faced with the challenge of attracting top students and teachers. Tuition is kept lower than the educational cost to keep an Academy education more affordable to a greater number of students. Tuition revenue covers only 75% of the school's annual expenses. Our families value the difference an Academy education can make throughout a lifetime. The Annual Fund makes up the difference between tuition and the actual cost to educate each child.

This year, you will have the opportunity to designate your gift to one or more of the following areas that you are most interested in supporting.

General Fund
Unrestricted support allows the school the most flexibility in directing funds to areas where they will have the greatest impact. Some of the areas that this fund helps support are:

. Creative movement, which increases vocabulary awareness while providing another opportunity to perform.

.The outstanding arts and music program, which enhances the child’s creativity and self-confidence, giving him or her the opportunity to shine.

. Introduction to foreign language in Early School when a child’s ability to learn a language is at its peak.

. Small class sizes that enable teachers to provide individualized attention.

. Your gift also keeps the campus buses rolling, the lights in the classrooms glowing, and the heat in the halls going.

Technology and Classroom Support
Technology is an increasingly powerful tool that can be used to enhance student learning. Your gift to this area will enable GPA to:

. Allow the school to look into acquiring such educational enhancements as Smart technology. When incorporated into the curriculum, new technology can push student learning to new levels, while encouraging them to master advanced technological skills.

. Your gift to this area also helps the school equip classrooms, laboratories, the library, performing arts space and athletic facilities with the necessary tools and supplies to maximize our students’ learning experience.

Faculty Support
Independent schools need to attract and retain highly competent, qualified and caring faculty to lead academic, arts and athletic programs.
Your gift to the faculty fund provides the resources to:

. Fund a distinguished faculty member’s work

. Reward academic achievement

. Enable our faculty to pursue new areas of research or innovative teaching methods

. Retain and hire the best available faculty

Faculty is the heart of any school, and our faculty exemplifies what makes the Academy difference.

Character Development

.
Your gift helps the school continue to provide spiritual enrichment through Christian life classes and special Chapel assemblies.

. The Academy takes pride in helping each child develop moral character as well as discover and affirm values and beliefs.

. Your gift will also help fund special community service programs that expand the boundaries of the classroom and every day social, cultural and economic circles while at the same time developing a greater sense of responsibility and compassion.

. Involvement in volunteer service helps prepare young people to assume leadership roles in their communities.

. Your gift will help fund after school intramurals for grades 1-5. It will also help fund other sport-related activities such as middle school organized team sports.

"My husband and I were both products of public schools, so initially we were surprised when we learned of the expectation to give to the Annual Fund.  But when we learned how beneficial it was to the school, we accepted it as our responsibility."
