Many families who might otherwise be interested in an independent school do not seek out this option due to cost. The value of a Grosse Pointe Academy education cannot be measured in dollars, but in the future successes of our graduates in high school, college and beyond. An investment in a Grosse Pointe Academy education provides an advantage that lasts a lifetime.
The Academy prides itself in offering these advantages through outstanding academics, a unique approach to education, a Christian way of life, a wide range of extracurricular activities to challenge both the mind and the body - from chess to interscholastic athletics - and a lakeside setting with unparalleled facilities. However, tuition revenue alone does not cover this level of excellence. To keep tuition affordable, the school relies on other revenue sources such as annual and capital giving, Action Auction, and endowment interest. As an independent school, the Academy does not receive funding from local, state and federal governments.
The Grosse Pointe Academy seeks out many ways to make an Academy education affordable to as many families as possible. In recent years, the Academy has awarded $555,000 in tuition assistance. In fact, for 2008-09, 32% of students in grades 1-8 receive some form of tuition assistance. This includes both need-based and merit-based scholarships. In addition, finance plans are available to meet budgeting needs.
